Professional kitchen duct cleaning in Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and London
Your Responsibility
The Workplace (Health Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 stipulate that mechanical ventilation systems must be maintained (including cleaned as appropriate) in efficient working order. Since the introduction of Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the onus has been put on the responsible person within an organisation to carry out their own fire risk assessment.
Failure to carry out regular maintenance and cleaning of a kitchen extractor system and ducting is likely to be seen as a contravention of the above. Most insurance companies have further clarified this by including special provisions and stipulations regarding duct cleaning in their policies. The industry accepted benchmark for the internal cleanliness of ventilation systems is the B&ES (formerly HVCA) Document TR19.
How often does my kitchen extraction system require cleaning?
This depends on numerous variable factors such as the level of usage of the cooking equipment, type of cooking, type of extraction system etc., but as a guideline the B&ES highlight typical cleaning intervals as:
Heavy use 12-16 hours a day – 3 months
Moderate Use 6-12 hours a day – 6 monthly
Light use 2-6 hours per day – 12 monthly
Have you ever physically checked the grease build up in your kitchen extractor system?
Our FREE AUDIT will take grease measurements and check your current extractor system and duct cleanliness on your behalf and recommend a regime of cleaning going forward. For more complicated systems we are able to produce schematic drawings, which highlight accessible areas and cleaning standards, and offer solutions and recommendations to any non-conformances we might find.
Insurance companies may refuse to pay out after a fire, if you cannot demonstrate a satisfactory regime of cleaning. Our service is based on years of experience and is designed to give our customers peace of mind.
